@sabrighton are u sure? i'm not here to preach a sinhala message, because factually neither of us are indigenous. the veddah were there first, then sinhalese and then tamils. there were also more than one kingdoms, of which the tamils had their own. sri lanka was only unified when the colonisers came. so how did the sinhalese then go to the tamils to let them live in peace

there has been no historical evidence that tamils have ruled any parts of SL.Running back to 2500 years,there has been Sinhalese kings and queens.SL is not a tamil,sinhalese,muslim country..IT BELONGS TO SRI LANKANS!

@nuttywatty so why did tamils settle in the north east which were of harsh conditions?? why didnt they move to the south where there is more fertile land etc?

@chica476 The original rulers of SriLanka were the Yakksha and Nagas. 2 tribal communities. The Sinhalese and Tamils both have Indian origin. At the height of British rule the largest number of professionals came from the burgher community with a ratio of 3:1 Those who went to Christian schools and converted to Christianity had a better chance to join the professions. Ananda College which offered an. English education was built with funds from both the Buddhist Sinhalese and Hindu Aiyars
