I heard that people don't buy the females because female betta are suppose to be in groups of 4 or more, like guppies

Honestly, bettas don't like to live with other bettas, regardless of gender. :)

Also, they need at least a cage that's 30x18x18 inches. I'd say a lot more, because a lot goes into care for them, but I can't type very much so I'd just reccomend watching my videos and researching as much as you can. :)
