I shot this video as I was waiting at the South-bound intersection of the North Dallas Parkway and 121. No one was in the intersection, but the red light camera across the intersection flashed. Can you see a reason for the camera to have flashed?

  • IT went off because you went over the white line. Which is were it is set to go off at...

  • @Pilot135R You are confused. The red camera flashed on the other side of the street, for the cross traffic.

  • What are you using to record and how is it positioned.

  • I used an Archos AV500 with the optional sports camera attachment to record this scene. The sports camera mounts easily to the sun visor of my vehicle w/o obstructing my view.

  • I see some lights ahead a split second before a flash goes off. Maybe it was an illegal right on red without stopping.

  • No vehicle went through the intersection before the lights flashed, not even to make a right-hand turn. I am fairly certain also that the right-turn lane does not have a stop at that corner; it is a continuous lane. It might have a yield sign, but does not have a required stop.

  • Probably another Delorean.

  • @Pooua Oh....

  • PLEASE HELP In australia btw

There was an intersection with 2 lanes straight ahead on greenlight then a right turn lane on a red arrow. I entered in a greenlighted straight ahead lane but then turned right in the middle of the intersection.

If I didn't touch the stop line in the right turn lane, it shouldn't have triggered the cameras right? It was night time and I didn't notice any flashes although there was streetlights which could have made the flash less noticable?

  • Perhaps the red light camera was triggered by its motion detector couldn't differentiate between rain close up and a car in the intersection.

  • True...you can dial in run test shots....Usually on moving vehicles though not vehicles at rest. But...If the software has a Flash button they can test the Flash that way. I used to install these cameras.

  • Cross talk in the Detection Loops in the road will make them do that. The Technician needs to retune the detection loops or put inductive chokes on the loops where they terminate inside the cabinet. Or worst comes to worst, install new loops...$5k

  • the intersection closest to my house has a camera and it flashes all the time with noone in the intersection. seems almost every time i pull up to it at night it flashes so i dono.
