This is one of the most terrible things politicians (Republican Right Wing) have ever done and are still doing. Republican Senator Mitch McConnell along with Michelle Maulkin and others including Fox Phony News are behind this.

I hate how some people are defending the right wing politicians for this.

If it gets the job done. Democrats put a face to it for their purposes, republicans didn't for their own purposes. Republicans use kids to further their agenda also. That's how politics work, but attacking a 12 year old is disgusting I don't care if you're a democrat or a republican the actions of the republican party actually put this child in danger. Even if he had been lying through his teeth that still wouldn't be ok.

What I am trying to say is is that whether or not his parents are qualified to get SCHIP is irrelevant. It does not matter whether or not putting him in the public eye is moral or acceptable. He lived and is recovering. Neither he nor his sister are expendable nor should they die at the whim of greedy and selfish adults who devalue the lives of others. They talk about kids being inhuman and insensitive to violence yet they are a lot worse.

Out of all honesty in my own opinion some of you are missing the point. Fact of the matter is a 12 year old and his sister were seriously injured in a car accident and survived and are relatively living a full life because they were fortunate enough to have SCHIP to pay for the necessary lifesaving surgery. Whether he was used as a poster child or not is besude the point. What is important is that he SURVIVED. That is not a crime nor is it amoral and yet these idiots would rather he died.

That's why you don't use children. In debate, you need to be able to question people's motives, understanding, and decision making process. If you give a child an anti-abortion sign, of course that leads to questions about whether they are doing it to please parents, what they know about the law/history/biology/etc., and whether they have thought about the effects of what they are proposing.

Using children is a cheap way to avoid answering questions needed to judge the validity of a view.
