He lived and taught at my school in New zealand in 1977 and he was a member of A,R,R,S,E--------this was the association of road running staff enthusiasts.
He was a nice guy I ran with him afew times and he put in a fantastic leg in the school road relay.

Remember seeing this at the time, and astonished that Ron Pickering didn't realise the record was on when he read out the last lap time. A masterful run from Moorcroft, must've been kicking himself that he didn't get under 13:00.

Fantastic, i was hoping someone would post this. What an incredible achievement, to take nearly 6 seconds off the WR and to do it all alone. Brilliant.
