@wotmot223 If you believe Article one section eight gives the government "a great deal of discretion in terms of what our elected leaders can do in furtherance of the ... general welfare of the nation..." then please tell me what the purpose of the 9th and 10th Amendments is? They are basically meaningless if you are right. That is a gross distortion of the meaning of the Constitution which is used to justify the entire unconstitutional behemoth that our government has become.

@explodingbee I mean he got elected to public office. However a great number of people who do not agree with most of what Mr Paul belives in are also in strict conformity with the US constitution. Article one section eight of the constitution allows a great deal of discretion in terms of what our elected leaders can do in furtherance of the common the common defense and general welfare of the nation (amoung other things listed).
