The date was July 11th, 1995. After 18 games of qualifying and 24 games of round robin match play, 57 year old John Handegard beat Walter Ray Williams Jr by a stick to get to the television show. John qualified fifth in the championship round and beat Mike Aulby, Norm Duke, and Bryan Goebel. The 57 year old takes on the top seeded player Mark Williams.   • This is one of my all time favorite telecasts. Nobody expected Handegard to win, and he just wen through them all with ease.

  • Mark would eventually leave that "ungodly" split that Earl was talking about at 5:06....and make it!!!!
