This is the Ballad of Jed Clampett, the well known theme of the world famous television series and movie "The Beverly Hillbillies".
Finally had the time to go out in the backyard and shoot this video! This here is the full song, with singing and all (sorry!) and even the funny remarks about the hillbilly family in between! It's a fun tune to pick, fun to sing and a certain hit in a barbecue or pig pickin'!!! Everybody knows and love this tune. Here, as a novice, I made a few minor mistakes, but overall, I'm satisfied with it, so I wrapped it up and decided to upload.
I always love to upload videos here and share it with my friends. There's a certain excitement about it, it's a nice feeling to do so. If you just got started on the banjo, or any other instrument for that matter, I would strongly suggest you to start an account here, if you don't already have one, and upload the little songs you will be learning. Besides of listening to your own mistakes, and later on watch it as a proof of your own improvement (watch my first Cripple Creek song, recorded two years ago, and compare it to this one!), it will also give you motivation to keep on going. To top it off, there's a lot of expert banjo players here and they always give you good advice. Don't be alarmed by critics, as long as they are not offensive, but rather constructive, they will help you to improve your techniques. And most of all, remember this: if you ain't gettin' paid for it, or making a living on your banjo, it's all for the fun, bubba!!!
Hope y'all like it, folks! Sorry if the banjo ain't at its "peak" - the banjo is cheap and the strings are very old. I mean old, old as hell, I gotta get them changed as soon as I get money and order online, since they do not have banjo strings for sale in this town. We'll get it done, I reckon this is good for now. Video recorded in the state of Nevada, on a couch out in the backyard :)
I forgot to mention that not only is Hank my favorite singer, but my favorite song is the wreck of the old 97 by Hank Snow, but others have sang it, such as Boxcar Willie, Roy Acoff and Johnny Cash.

@Godskid66 I love that tune, was playing it here yesterday (not me, can't play it yet, on the radio), drinking some whiskey while listening to some good Bluegrass tunes. I like Hank Snow too, my favorite tune of his is "I've Been Everywhere", because I can relate too. Even been to Winnemucca several times, the Nevada town mentioned in that tune, which is in fact not too far from where I recorded this video you see here, in northern Nevada.

Do you know any Hank Williams Sr?

@Godskid66 Not right now, but I'm fixin' to learn "I Saw The Light", which he wrote, got the TAB and all. I'm only now getting into playing some non-bluegrass tunes on the banjo, but it's still all new to me. But I'll get some Hank done one of these days.

Do you play professinally on stage???

@Godskid66 No, in my honest opinion, I think it will be a couple of years more before I can reach that level. I pick my banjo usually at home, but I have picked for people in birthdays and parties, just for fun. But I did pick that same tune a year ago at a pub here in Scotland and it was very well received by the folks there, but that could have been the liquor affecting their good judgement! :)
