The York Rite is one of the two main appendant bodies of United States Freemasonry, which a Master Mason may join to further his knowledge of Freemasonry. Its name derives from the city of York, where, according to a Masonic legend, the first meetings of Masons in England took place.

Royal Arch Masonry is the first order a Master Mason joins in the York Rite.
The Chapter works the following degrees:

The Mark Master Mason degree is in some respects an extension of the Fellow Crafts' second degree. In some jurisdictions the degree is conferred in a Fellow Craft Lodge, that is, the second degree of the Blue Lodge.

The Past Master (Virtual) degree is conferred because of the traditional requirement that only Past Masters of a Blue Lodge may be admitted to Holy Royal Arch. Because there are so many applicants for this degree, Virtual Past Master is required to qualify them for it. Much of the work is the same given to install the Worshipful Master of a Blue Lodge. There is no such requirement or procedure outside the USA.

In the Most Excellent Master degree the building of King Solomon's Temple, which figures so prominently in Blue Lodge, has been completed. In England the degree is conferred by Cryptic Councils, along with three other degrees below.

The Royal Arch Mason degree is said by many to be the most beautiful degree in all of Freemasonry. Following the convocation of Supreme Grand Chapter in England on November 10, 2004, there are significant ritual differences from that worked in the USA, fraternal inter-relations remain as before. Freemasons who reach this degree may continue to Cryptic Masonry or go straight to Knights Templar.
Cryptic Masonry
It is called Cryptic Masonry or the Cryptic Rite because a crypt or underground room figures prominently in the degrees.

  • Real Masons watch these conspiracy vids & shake our heads in amusement.. Where do they get this stuff? My lodge is so busy with the half dozen charities we support, the scholarships & adopted schools, the children's clinics, etc., there's no time for skullduggery.

Freemasonry is not a religion. Its virtues are mostly founded in Scripture, but nobody I know stopped being whatever to worship solely at their Blue Lodge. I'm a Catholic (don't ask-don't tell!) & Freemasonry doesn't interfere.

  • Those look like .pdf files available for free online and are far from secret.

I too am sick of ignorant paranoid videos linking the Masons to every conspiracy they can think of. What ever happened to doing RESEARCH first?

There is no Masonic religion, though we are religious in nature. In my Lodge we are all Christian.

If the CA courts rules it is a religion the the CA Brothers were disingenuous in describing Masonry to the court.

  • Hello to my brother Hiram out there wherever you are. Good to see you here! SMiB

  • I have been a Mason for almost 25 years. If there are any real conspiracies going on then I am going to be really widdled off for missing out on all the fun.

I might even bring this up with the Brethren: "Hey what about acting the white man and sharing a bit more you lot?".

As for the music, what about Widor V, War March of the Priests or even the Kaiserhymn?

  • yes, spend all your money reading about masons and the elk's club to 'find da troof'

Find a hobby. Talk to a pretty girl. Get help for your meth habit.

  • @horselips if you mean by that, Mr. Benedict XVI, he is not, and cannot be the true Pope. A true Pope never teaches any heresies, so he must be Mason, heretic, a non-catholic. One day, sooner or later, this truth will come out, and then this man will have to pack his bags asap.

  • @shetlandwool: I'm not the only Roman Catholic in my Lodge - I know of 3 others (there may be more) - and 2 of them are 4th degree Knights of Columbus as well. We also have 2 known Jews, and 1 known Buddhist. The rest are various denominations of Christianity. Since we do not discuss religion (or politics or any other divisive topic) in Lodge, this info leaks out at dinners and parties before the Lodge is opend by the Worshipful Master. VIVA IL PAPA, Vicar of Christ, Supreme Pontiff.

  • @horselips You cannot be a Catholic and a mason at the same time. Masonic membership is a mortal sin in the Catholic Church (that is, in the REAL Catholic Church, not in the masonic joke church they call Vatican II)

  • @horselips Well said Brother dont let the P****ne destract you from what Masonry is all about

  • @horselips

Agreed, though your higher-ups do with-hold great knowledge, surely not all do exactly the right thing with it...

  • You can always tell it's a BS conspirancy video by that annoying music, they all use it. No creativity, and certainly no research. I used to watch these for amusement, now they're just boring.

  • @curt4187 Leo Taxil associated the baphomet he was an anti-Mason who made a hoax known as the Taxil hoax which he admitted was a hoax. Aliester Crowley was not a Mason he was a member of a clandestine Mason order not reconized by Freemasons is other words he was a wannabe anything that freak did or said don't reflect Freemasonry he was not a Mason. The Shriner hospitals help children nothing evil think I'm lying go to one and talk with any of the kids or their parents you will see the good
