"Dark Wood" I, II, and III by classically trained cellist David Darling--respectively, Tracks 1, 4, and 13 of his CD "Cello" (ECM, 1994, reissued 2000). These works for solo acoustic and electric cello are based on Gregorian chant. Darling has played with the Paul Winter Consort, Jan Gabarek, and Ralph Towner, among others.
