You think the team's mascot was trying to break the backboard on purpose!? This stunt is a halftime gimmick. Now the teams can't finish the game! There's no way this was intentional. Backboards have been perfected over the last 30 years to prevent this from happening. How do you think 6' 11" 260lbers can dunk on these rims without them shattering every time. He caught that dunk in the perfect spot. You could tell by his body language that he wasn't expecting it.

So who's going to pay for the backboard to be replaced? It's tempered safety glass so it's about $800 to replace. You can see from the video it was intentional.
