A biography of the early years of Booker T. Washington. Born a slave in 1859, he built a monument to education and lived a life that has come to embody its value. When Washington stepped out of the bonds of slavery into the dark years of African Americans' new freedom, he had little more than a thirst for learning. With his own hands and the helping hands of his students, the Tuskegee Institute was founded. A Vignette Films Production. 11 minutes, color.

  • @moderadonna @ Mode, Wait a minute, who is it that you're saying meet with the Klan, Garvey or Booker T? And if that happened, then what was the purpose of this meeting?

  • Brother Booker T. Washington is one of the best scholars in history.

Brother Booker T. inspired us to learn and to be our bosses.

Our people should read a copy of Brother Booker T.'s books including Black Diamonds.

  • lol

  • Man I thought this was abou tthe wrestler.

  • Stop studying and show and prove we know so damn much but put none of it to action just crazy .

  • Everybody knows marcus garvey got his ideas from booker t. washington if you read at all . Unnessasary comment put the division among our folks is common .

  • Marcus Garvey copied his ideas but we must remember that he was a man, coming from another country, with money on the brain. He initially came to raise money for a school in Jamaica, and used the anger from the st. louis riots as a foot in the door. Anyone outsider, who would come into a place, pronounce himself a leader and meet with the Klan, (august 2, 1922* Archives Jamaican Gleaner) is someone who should be studied with a careful eye.

  • for what it's worth, too late I know but the book "Up From Slavery" is an autobiography of Booker T. Washington's life.
