This lost classic, shot on 16mm in a wintry Berlin in 1993,
explores the origins of the now monumentally massive German Trance and Dance music scene.
With interviews with luminaries such as Dr Motte, Paul van Dyk, Laurent Garnier, Paul Browse, Mijk van Dijk and MFS label supremo Mr Mark Reeder
this now legendary exploration into the underworld of what was the most significant force in driving dance music forward in the 20th century.
It contains rare early footage of the 1991 and 1993 Love Parade, and of the now bulldozed Mutoid Waste Company land,
E-Werk and Tresor - Berlin's legendary (and now closed) clubs that started it all in the former East Berlin.
Directed by Ben Hardyment
this documentary is imbued with an uplifting and extremely positive energy
- there are rumours of a film sequel in the pipeline, but for now, sit back and enjoy 25 minutes of pure trance music history.

  • @SuperStevenHarper

This is 19 years in the past!! Music, people, places, atmospheres have changed...

But if you go to Berlin you will find some of it is still there, but in different places under different names.

  • I'd love to visit Berlin someday and take part in this. Looks sweet :D

  • @trisky1234 you're not right cause we're not fighting for nothing. most of people are confused about trance or any other style would be known wrong. you just don't care what trance came from, but for people who want to know it's important to know the origins of trance the right way.

  • @1Stormbringer continuation... second, you're fool not to realise that german djs used to ignore the fact that trance came from techno and house and ambient, cause they wanted to make people believe trance is originally not influenced by any electronic genre from usa. trance exists because of house and techno, remember this and don''t tell me bulls. donna summer had nothing to do with electronic genres. she performed disco which is not electronic genre.

  • @1Stormbringer first. don't mention wikipedia. but if i was supporting wikipedia i would have said you are just a member of bunch that intentionally tries to confuse people or to tell them wikipedia is wrong. first, german djs used to call any electronic music "techno" like it's done today and it's wrong cause techno is a detroit music came from electro funk and original chicago house, it's hybrid from both. continuation...

  • @askadetra If you ask the old school techno and trance DJs and producers from Frankfurt, they will never say that the techno in Germany came from house or funk. Pop quiz. Who in Germany is known for first coining the term techno for electric sounding music? As for Donna Summer's song, I never meant to say it was edm, I just meant to say that some of trance, house, and techno tunes used elements of disco. Donna's song is just one example. You should not rely on wikipiedia. They don't know jack
