Kim Clijsters has beaten Serena Williams to book a place in the US Open final after the defending champion was issued with a code violation on match point.

Serena was docked a point for yelling at an official who called a foot fault when trailing 5-6, 15-30 in the second set.

The unseeded Clijsters reached the final after winning 6-4 7-5.

Williams allegedly made a threat against the line judge, who then reported it to the chair umpire. That led to the chair umpire awarding a point to Clijsters, ending the match.

2005 champion Clijsters will now take on Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark in the final, after the No.9 seed Belgian Yanina Wickmayer 6-3 6-3.

  • disgrace to the world of tennis

  • Serena is such a talent... tough intense player but she has got to get it together emotionally... when she is on her game there is nobody better but mentally she beats herself sometimes...

  • Liar

  • She bullied and threatened the judges on court and then said she does't remember what she said. What an excuse ! She doesn't even know how to be honest to herself. Really unattractive inside.

  • you can see her trying to think, but her brain is just not responding.

  • @JBlue761982 gracefully?? you better watch some interviews by clijsters, sampras, federer, rafter, wozniacki to find out what grace is.

  • Well, if this steroid popping bad-mouting excuse of a human being is the best the US has to offer in line of a role model for future sport champions, what a sad, sorry lot you are!

  • Obviously, Serena's behavior on the court was out of line, and was clearly in violation of ITF code. She deserved a point penalty, and she admits that in the video. Serena also emphasized that Kim played great tennis and deserved to win the match. Moreover, Serena showed that she is mature enough to be able to laugh at herself. Overall, I think she handled this press conference gracefully. Serena isn't my favorite, but I believe that she handled this situation rather well, all things considered.

  • looked like roid rage.

  • Serena two open finals, two losses. The view on the way down is not as nice as the view on the way up. I give you one more year then we can all 4get about you.
