Save Canada's Aviation and Space Heritage

"History may not repeat itself, but it does rhyme a lot. " Mark Twain...The Canadian Air & Space Museum in Downsview Ontario is where Canada's space program was born. The building is unprotected and is about to be knocked down and replaced with a hockey rink. The Mosquito, the Chipmunk, the Beaver and the Tiger Moth were built there. It is the only place in the world to see a full-size Avro Arrow fighter interceptor. Save the Museum. Save the Building. Please help.

I'm so angered that people think that having a hockey rink will be more beneficial than having a museum! It's incredible to me how people can be so stupid and think that museums deserve to be destroyed. History is so important, interesting, fascinating, that it almost brings me to tears to think that something that holds such value in so many peoples lives could be destroyed. Kids need a place to be able to go learn about our amazing past and you can only learn so much by sitting in a class room

It is disgusting that our government is willing to deprive future generations from seeing (and learning from) this incredibly valuable history.

By the way, 19 songs about the life and times of the Avro Arrow will be sung at the Comedy Bar, 945 Bloor Street West, just west of Ossington on October 8 at 7:30 pm for a one hour set. One song is about June Callwood, who would be rolling in her grave if she knew about this proposed demolition.

For years, Park Downsview Park tried to sabotage/destroy the Canadian Air and Space Museum. According to bizorky "There were moves to double the rent on the land, and the museum was barred from putting up signage for awhile."(Google: "bizorky museum barred from putting up signage."). CFB Downsview is public land, owned by the citizens of Canada. I will not sit back and let an unaccountable Crown corporation destroy MY history and sell MY land to developers. Time for a public inquiry.

So, a Crown Corp has been making back room deals on this for 2 years. Where else but Canada could we loose such an important building, museum and history to a lousy hockey rink and the almighty buck. I am ashamed to be Canadian. The Feds have shafted the Arrow twice now, and this country with it. This is an absolute disgrace.
