Clickertaining 6 months old shih tzu mix ! He learned this trix in under 10 minutes, only one session. this is the next day...and look at him go;O)
Clickertraining makes sush creative dogs that are easy to reward cause they offer so many behaviours!

Her is how we did the backchain:
(remember the last behaviour is learned first)

If your dog hasnt learned to go in the kennel shape the behavor before you start this bahaviour chain...

1. The dog is lying in the crate, i click for interest in the door(sniffing, staring, scratching) capturing the dog getting closer to tugging the rope that is conected to the door. Here we want the dog to have the tug in its mouth for about 5 sek. then click/treat. When the dog knows this, go on to step 2...

2. Send the dog in the kennel and wait for it to close the dor, make the click/treat varye from C/T(clicking and treating) when the dogs goes in the kennel, and C/T when it goes in the kennel and close the door...when the dog can to this correct 80% of the time, add criteria by sending the dog to the crate from longer distances and different angels. If you really want a strong beghaviour do this in different locations.

3. Now your dog goes to the crate and closes the door from all angels, and with distances up to 30 feet. Its time to teach the "open the door" behaviour...its thought the same way as close the door. Now your dog stands in front of the cage, with the door closed(not with a loock;O) and you shape the dog to grab the tug and open the door. Also add distance and different angels.

3. Your dog can do these parts seperatly: Open the cratedoor, go in the crate, close the crate....now all you have to do is stand with your dog close to the crate with the door shut, simply wait for it to open the door. dont click when it opens the door, but wait for it to go inside and lock the door..whit some patient it will happen!!!

4. Now your dog does the whole thing with 80 % sucsess!congratulation;) Right before the dog goes to open the door add a cue...for example "get in your kennel". Afther about 15-20 repititions with the cue, test the cue to se if the dog responds. if it does you can not click/treat the dog when it does it volonteerly, but only click/treat when he does it after you say the cue.
