Well, here we go again with another variation on the same theme. This is the last of the newest batch of PPSimmons/Carl Gallups anti-science videos that need to be addressed, so with a bit of luck he'll shut the fuck up for a while now and let me move on to pastures new.

This time the wankers-in-crime claim that rationalists are hypocrites because they accuse creatards of falsely painting evolution as a random process while themselves using the very same words to describe it. They then go on to exploit a rich seam quotes from evolutionary biologist Doug Futuyma by mining it relentlessly, all while claiming that this is exactly what they're not doing.

Here I put them straight on the exact nature of their excavations and also why processes that contain random elements are not necessarily random themselves, thereby demonstrating why they and their like cannot even begin to discuss modern science with out stinking out the room.

If you're into self-flagellation but your whip is broken at the moment, you can see PP's original video at:

The interview with Doug Futuyma can be found at:

Music: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, 25th Symphony (K183).

To change the subject, it looks like my experiment was a big success resulting in over 700 new people discovering this channel! To my new subscribers - in the past I would have taken the time to thank you all personally as I've done to those who came before you, but that would take a significant time to do with you all and would take away from making new content. I'm assuming you'd prefer me to spend my spare time making videos, so In lieu of a personal message, let me then thank you all for subscribing here and I hope you enjoy this channel!

I'd also like to express my sincerest thanks to everyone who took the time to mirror the promo video - it means an awful lot to me and I'm forever grateful to you all.

It's also not too late to help promote this channel, so if you think it's worthwhile or something that your subscribers might enjoy then you can still download the promo from my channel page or at:

  • At about 12:45 you said something about evolution and if it will occur in the future i thought evolution was unending im sure it takes thousands or millions of years i thought evolution was never ending and evolution doesn't end or stop.

  • @philosophicalreason I think you must have misunderstood. At 12:54 I say it is still occurring today. Essentially I'm saying exactly what you are saying - it is a continuous and unending processes.

  • I think it's silly to say that common sense has no place in science.

Science is has its foundations in inferences, and common sense is a scientist's life-long accumulation of inferences, albeit casual and non-rigorous ones.

  • @TwirlySocrates Common sense has a place in the process of doing science. It has no place as a replacement for the conclusions reached by science following suitable verification, no matter how much they contradict it. Based on the examples I gave I think it should have been fairly clear that I was referring to the latter.

  • finally someone acknowledges that poker is a game of skill and not a mugs game of chance. finally.

  • Thumbs up if thought it was a boob for a few seconds

  • @Mogley52 Haha, plenty of evidence for both, why u lyin, bro?

  • @Mogley52 There are mudskippers that exist today. Bad argument is really bad. I can think of a ton of examples of benefits a fish with stronger fins more suited for reaching land would gain: the ability to escape other fish, more food in environments where it's scarce in the water, a safe place to lay eggs, etc. Just because you can't think of any doesn't make your argument here any good. And there are tons of transitional forms, liar.

  • @Mogley52 As limited as the fossil record is, it still very easily coincides much better with evolution than any creation theory. On a quick glance, a child can see the similarities between related species. It's one of your most embarrassing problems. I wish y'all would stop doing that to yourselves. It's really sad.

  • @Mogley52 You need to define "kinds", and explain how it relates to ring species. Do it.

  • @Mogley52 I'm sorry, but no. You can't insist that the "beginning" had to be supernatural without providing evidence for it. I have just as much of a right to say that my Mom started the universe as you do to insist that your deity does, in that case.

  • This is pure ownage. Mr. Dinosaur, you've found yourself another fan.

  • Do you suspect that Carl actually has sufficient intellectual integrity, to actually view your videos?

Personally, I love to watch your vids before going to bed. Not because that the contence is boring(on the contrary it makes me sleep deprived), or that you have a particularly soothing voice, but because I take massive comfort in the daily confirmation that there is hope for the intellectual potential of humanity before going to sleep. Keep on the excellent work sir, I am subscribed

  • @TheLivingDinosaur my bad thanks for straightening me out :)
