Mule deer at Starr Ranch eating acorns

An Eagle Scout project helped reside our Paul Colburn Field Lab at Audubon California's Starr Ranch Sanctuary. The old siding was full of holes drilled by Acorn Woodpeckers and the walls were full of acorns. We collected the acorns (filled a 55 gallon drum!) and have been putting them out for the Acorn Woodpeckers to use again - and store in a place they can get them. The mule deer that commonly wander around Starr Ranch found them also and are also taking advantage of them. Pete
