It's called 'Island Funk' often applied by Calypso drummers in the northern Caribbean. In fact, it is a protracted Rag-time beat, and played staccato for the effect. Note how the singers all 'groove and 'bounce to the downbeat? That is as planned. Anything less and the performance would have been less remarkable.

i love the gospel versions of this song. i didnt even realize it was contemporarary christian until i came to school and none of my friends had heard the gospel version. awesome ending; u put some flava on it! what's better is that every one of the members in the choir is really worshipping. awesome job. praise God!
