Random Video: Comparing SMB1-1 TAS

Super Mario Brothers DX's 1-1 can be completed one time unit faster than the NES SMB1's world record. I set out to find why.

NES Super Mario Bros. TAS is played by klmz; see http://tasvideos.org/1080M.html .

GBC Super Mario Bros. DX TAS is played by me.

Reason 1 is that in the "coin paradise" pipe warp, Mario *seems* to hit the ground faster.

Reason 2 is that at the end of the level, there are seven stairs to climb in the DX version as opposed to eight in the original.

This video uses annotations to assist in explaining the events of the video. They will not become a regular visitor in my videos.
