The 1954 FIFA World Cup, the fifth staging of the World Cup, was held in Switzerland from June 16 to July 4. The tournament was won by West Germany, who defeated Hungary 3-2 in the final, giving them their first title. . . 60,000 people crammed into The Wankdorf Stadion in Berne to watch the final between West Germany and Hungary, a rematch of a first round game, which Hungary had won 8-3 against the German team. The Golden Team of the Hungarians were favorites, as they were unbeaten for a record of 32 consecutive matches but they had two tough play-off matches. @UserWithoutUsername Yes.Everyone hates Germany BECAUSE WEST GERMANY USED DOPPING against Hungary.Hungary was the best NOT west germany,germany could win cause dopping Grat.. Also Brazil deserved it's win cause Brazil didn't use dopping.

Hungarians were the Gods of Football at that time .... they destroyed England with 6 goals in the heart of London in 1953 .... it was terrible such a great time didn't win the world cup ...sigh .

Has anybody noticed how fair those games were back then? Hardly any fouls. The worst foul of the match by a German player was something that would be seen as peanuts today. The player actually went straight over to apologise. Those were gentlemen playing football as opposed to those narcissistic millionaires with a rotten attitude on the fields these days…
