This is the second and edited version of our video "sword and brush - iaijutsu and shodo". We made this video look like old film. Kenji Sekiguchi is a direct student of Sekiguchi Komei sensei the 21st Grandmaster of Muso Jikiden Eishin ryu Iaijutsu. He is the shibucho (head) of Komei Juku in Indonesia. Kenji Sekiguchi is also a shodo student of Nihon Shuji Kyoiku Zaidan. This video shows his passions towards Iaijutsu (Japanese swordsmanship) and Shodo (Japanese Calligraphy). visit: http://www.samurai.or.id and http://www.kenjishodokai.com

  • Very interesting and illuminating, especially the link between drawing the sword and executing a brush stroke.

I don't like the "old style" film effect very much, would have preferred it more normal video.

  • Domo Arigato, wonderful video...too many people with swords have no soul. you cannot replace two thousand years of tradition with one afternoon cutting water bottles in the backyard. this is what it is all about. you are a true Sensei. BOW.... p.s. the kids are adorable.

  • coolio!

I noticed that you start rotating the blade before you cut down. why is that? very different from the way I've learned shomen

    cool vid.

  • Amazing!!!!

  • Very beautiful. This Ryu seems very efficent. un like other styles this one is very keen on the power that comes form the legs and hips.

  • Beautiful, powerful, and insightful. Thank you for sharing.

  • Arigato. Not so much good observation but "Good teachers".

Yes the Kisaki is also "thrown" in Tanimura-ha. MJER ;-)

  • Wow, being a student you already have a good observation and recognise our kirioroshi, except you do this kind of kirioroshi too in Roshukai MJER? ;-)
