  • Thank you for such an interesting series; I had no idea. When will you make this into a "then & now" documentary filled with interviews and music for PBS broadcast?

  • In light of all this , one Monkees episode has grown quite infamous in my book. It was in their last season that there was an episode involving a lame scam by girls pretending to be a band with a tape playing "Last Train to Clarksville" speeded up. To make a long story short, the girls are slinking along to the Monkees at the end("She Hangs Out").

That being said, not all the bands on "Girls In the Garage" measure up to my taste, like the Luv'd Ones, but you have to start somewhere.

  • I'll be damned if this tune doesn't sound like Bela Legosi's Dead by Bauhaus . . . or maybe it's the other way around - no matter, it's a great tune and I'm damned either way ; )`

  • Glad to hear The Luv'd Ones used here. Gave their Sundazed disc a good going over when I got it a few years back ~ time to pull it back out again soon! Thanks!

  • "Coming Home" is the song.

  • ITS A COVER OF SCRATCHY TRAVIS WOMACK I THINK.

  • Lurve 'em. I fantasized about being in a girl band when I was a tween.

  • Really nice that Whyte Boots song up...so good

  • those girls are hot.

Thanks, Blacflag, or whoever you are.Loved them too since the 60s

  • @blacflag - thanks for the great 5-part slideshow on 60 Girl Garage Bands...what an amazing number of photos you have. I'm also a musician and enjoy the historical aspect of bands. Everyone of the songs that accompany the slide shows have been great. What's the name of the song on Pt. 5, and who is the girl band playing it?
