It is still an independent brewery, and every drop of shiner is brewed in shiner. Who ever told you LaBatt got their hands on it was blowing smoke up your butt.

man i love that beer, i drank bud-light till i was introduced 2 that beer and, "WOW", thats all i can say!!!! ITS THE BEST, A LITTLE EXPENSIVE BUT WELL WORTH IT.

Too bad LaBatt got their hands on Shiner Bock. It used to be native to Texas AND ONLY Texas. Now it's everywhere but those areas can't get it dirt cheap like we get it here. I can get a 24oz bottle of Shiner for three bucks at the store. we who live where Shiner is king know that it tastes better with each refill!
