Peter Gabriel's album "So" came out around the same time as this album. Both were produced by Daniel Lanois who also produced U2's Joshua Tree which also appeared around the same time. Bono sings on one of the other songs on this album, Sweet Fire of Love. Thus the similar sounds and the various artists showing up on each others' albums.
