Pavarotti interprets the role of Idamante from Mozart's opera Idomeneo. It was recorded live in London in 1964. Sorry about the bad quality pics :)

  • @myfavourite08: I do not consider GermanOperaSinger to be an expert in opera in the slightest bit. His credibility and knowledge of opera (especially of Pavarotti) is amateur at best.

  • Spectacular!!!!!This was a life well spent.

  • I am glad u are as thankful and passionate about his spectacular gift as I am.

  • thank you for posting. There will only be one Pavarotti. RIP Maestro

  • I can only imagine the heights he would have reached if had spent his life as a Mozartean.

  • I find him extraordinary in Mozart.

  • Thank you so much for this! It is so tragic that so much talent had to end.

  • I do not agree with what the German Opera Singer said. Pavarottis voice and his interpretation were very well suited for Idomeneo and, as far as I know, this was the only Mozart opera he took on. This because all of the operas he selected were always tastefully chosen with an incredible certainty. He only took over when he was sure that his interpretation would be the best.

  • Are you sure this recording is from 1964?

It's fantastic ... I've heard of no better this aria ... expressive, by anyone. Luciano is second to none, he will always be second to none.

  • This is very well sung of course, but his voice and style weren't well suited for Mozart.

  • Thank you so much for this - magnifique!

  • There has been no competition in history and Pavarotti was "the one" (may he rest in peace).

  • Yep. It would have been nice to see him sing il mio tesoro, where you have endless Fs.
