The story of the stallion
The original name of this stallion is "Swiss Pride of Highland". In the year 1999 he was imported into Switzerland by Mr. Peter Rellstab as an unborn colt in the gestating mare "Highland Champagne". There Swissy (as he was called) was born and registered into the breed register of the TWHBEA under the name "Swiss Pride of Highland". He grew up on the equestrian farm of Peter Rellstab in the company of a lot of horses. Beside Swissy's mother and four further TWH, that were imported by Peter Rellstab together with Swissy's mother from USA into Switzerland, there were the horses of the riding stable, as well.
From the very beginning the little stallion was very outgoing and interested in everything, very accessible and friendly. And thus, it was a delight for Peter Rellstab, the "old cowboy", as he called himself, to teach the first lessons to the young horse. Swissy was always on the cowboy's side and learned quite fast. Even when Peter Rellstab had to move from Switzerland to Germany, due to an occupational change Swissy took part in moving with his friend, the cowboy.
Here in Germany, for the now 4-year old stallion the time had come to get accustomed to the saddle and the rider. With much empathy and horse sense of the cowboy, he and his horse became a unit, fast. The stallion learned so fast and showed himself so gentle and cooperative that some people were under the impression Swissy was a gelding. Even a thirteen-year old girl could groom, lunge and ride him.
But then fate took its course: The old cowboy could suddenly, not ride anymore, since both of his knees were destroyed and so, most of the time Swissy would have had to remain in his stall. With a heavy heart Peter Rellstab decided to give his best friend to another good place. Soon afterwards, he thought that he has found the latter and sold. Before this, Swissy was bred to a mare which did not conceive. However, the name "Swiss Pride of Highland" the cowboy's horse grew up with, right after sale and on the spot was changed by the buyer into "Pleasure's Pot of gold" and somehow mangaged to be registered into new papers although the stallion was sold with valid and complete papers.Additonally, the wrong statement was given, that the stallion had been "green" at the time of the sale. As the pictures show, that does not correspond to the facts.
At the time of sale, "Swiss Pride OF Highland" had completed a solid basic training, also under the rider. Unfortunately there are always people, who avail one selves of the misfortune of others and adorn themselves with borrowed plumes....

He's a pretty boy! Was he started in a snaffle or leverage bit?

Hi bullw,
the stallion was started by Peter Rellstab with in a snaffle bit with shanks and the reins were hooked to the snaffle-bit ring (shown on the pictures). The snaffle-bit was a double-broken bit to make it as mild as possible for the mouth of a young horse. That is how Peter usually starts young horses.

Okay...now I see, esp at 2:15. I have a palomino TWH (black skin)--good for the desert where we live. Have you found any trouble with the champagne horses getting sunburned or melanoma? I really like his head and overall conformation.

Hi bullw,
I can not say too much to these problems, cause I never had them here in Europe with any of my horses. It might be different with your desert climate over there.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
What´s your problem?
As long a TWH has no offspring, the owner can change the name.
This is not a miracle and if you would be really informed you should have known this!
Don´t talk about things that are not true!
SO WHAT?

Hello Melawi2211,
I have no problems. I knew, that it was permissible to change the name of the stallion before he had living offspring (TWHBEA-regulations). Just for information purposes, I documented the first 5 years of the stallion and received this info first-hand. I thought this might be interesting for mare owners and potential breeders.
