Simone Heng is a Singapore-born Australian TV and radio presenter based in Dubai. (Simone gets her exotic looks from a Chinese Singaporean father and a Portuguese Eurasian mother). She hosts Workforce Requests, the highest rating English radio show in the 10am to 1pm time belt on Dubai's leading English radio station104.4 Virgin Radio. A true broadcaster, Simone also fronts season 1 and 2 of the expatriate travel TV show Dubai 101 currently airing on Dubai One. Simone has had unprecedented commercial success as a non-Arab entertainer in the Middle East. In just 2 and half years she's been tagged as Dubai's most fashionable broadcaster and garners daily coverage across radio, television, print and social media. As such, she's been honoured with a series of ambassadorial roles and awards. This year she was made brand ambassador for Blackberry in the United Arab Emirates and chosen as the first of the Middle Eastern aambassadors for Philip Stein watches.
In 2010 she was nominated for Female Personality of the year in the Best in Dubai Awards and named the 18th hottest woman in radio according to a global poll on www.popcrunch.com. In both 2011 and 2010 she was featured in the city's list of the most influential professionals as part of the Ahlan! Hot 100. In 2010 she was also named as an ambassador for Viva Magazine for her role as one of the 10 most inspirational women in the Gulf. In the same year Simone was asked to represent Emirates Arthritis Foundation, for whom she supports in various events and donation drives. In 2006 she was also the brand ambassador for the Sunsilk Hair Talk campaign in the Philippines.
Prior to her work in the Middle East, Simone was based in Australasia for four years where she built her CV presenting shows for TV networks like Channel V International, AXN, Kid's Central Singapore and Channel 9 Perth. However, it was her appointment as the first face of the Home Box Office network in Asia from 2006 to 2008 which made her a known name. Simone fronted HBO Asia's movie show HBO Central to 300 million cable subscribers around the continent.
In Australia, Simone's 2007 hosting work on Postcards WA for Channel 9, made her one of a few Asian faces on a commercial network in the country at the time. In 2008, while still hosting HBO Central, Simone crossed over into radio on Singapore's Power 98FM. It is here that Richard Branson's scouts at Virgin Radio International found her and brought her to Dubai.
In addition to her TV and radio work, Simone is also a skilled writer with a Communications and Cultural Studies degree from Curtin University in Australia (where she graduated in the course's top 10%). She also penned a popular relationships column for a Singaporean national newspaper from 2006 to 2009. A year-long scholarship at 17 to Switzerland means that in addition to understanding Mandarin, Simone can also speak German and Swiss.
A talented emcee, Simone dedicates her time to hosting numerous charity events, she has also hosted the FHM Hottest 100 Women in Malaysia, The Viva Bachelor Awards in Dubai, The Viva Dubai Fashion Weekend ,The Viva Beauty Awards, The New-look La Senza Grand Opening in Dubai and The Relaunch of the Philippine's TV5 network. More than just a pretty face, Simone has recently entered the world of stand up comedy and opened for Saturday Night Live alumnus Dean Edwards in Dubai. She can also edit and produce radio shows on both Dalet and Radio Computing Services software and can edit audio on the Voxpro control panel and Audio Editor.
