Our Round 5 submission for the Building Virtual Worlds class at Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center. This video (I apologize for the terrible quality - I hope to upload a better version soon)was taken at the jury presentations for the annual BVW show that is held on campus to a crowd of over 500 people. Our team's submission, Grumpy Gus, was fortunate enough to be selected for the entire show's finale. Hopefully that video will be uploaded soon.
Our team really came together to produce what we all feel is our best work for the entire semester. Our world is quite unique compared to other BVW worlds. Everyone in the team was helping produce the performance, live on stage, much in the same way a band gives a concert. We were also able to incorporate the audience's volume into the world - another first in BVW!
Our team consisted of Ben Miller(texture artist, writer, after effect videos, co-producer, cloud therapist), Andrew Federspiel (programmer, writer, Gus puppeteer body movement), Matt McLean (modeler, animator, Gus' voice/mouth movement, writer), and Cory Garfin (Producer, after effect videos, writer, cloud puppeteer of Gus' emotions/states).
We created Gus with Maya, 3D Studio Max, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, HMD, two trackers, and Panda3D.
