This video comparison between the original and the newly restored Apollo 11 video shows Neil Armstrong making his way to the lunar surface, by climbing down the lunar module ladder.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11, NASA released partially restored video of a series of 15 memorable moments from the July 20 moonwalk. The source material for the restoration project is the best of the available broadcast-format video. Lowry Digital, Burbank, Calif., is significantly enhancing the video using the company’s proprietary software technology and other restoration techniques. The video is part of a larger restoration project that will be completed in September and provide a newly restored high definition video of the entire Apollo 11 moonwalk. The completed restoration will provide the public with the highest quality video of this historic event.

  • @Zeus0Moose No, YOU do not understand the Van Allen belts. The radiation there is in particles. This is FAR different from radiation in nuclear plants and such. The worst in the belt is high energy protons which are easily shielded against by the aluminum used in the ship. Dr. Van Allen HIMSELF said that they could survive the trip. So please, come up with some CORRECT evidence before telling me it's not true.

  • @Zeus0Moose Well, you hold onto that Apollo Fairy Tale as long as it keeps you feeling safe, and sound on a planet with individuals bent on destroying their own damn environment all you want. A simple understanding of the radiation environment within our magnetosphere, and beyond would awaken you. But obviously you prefer believing in radiation proof test pilots who are actually treasonous cowards instead! It's your brain, don't engage it as you deem fit!

  • @un4g1v3n1 He skipped a war to be a part of the most important moment in human history. Wars are stupid. Space exploration is not. If you support war over space expansion then in my opinion, you are a sad, sad being.

  • @GoreTorn16 Ya...the little biatch skipped VIET NAM to fake moon missions. I'd like to slap the hell out of the milli vanilli astronut coward!!!

  • Some people say the master tapes, with the original veideo recording of this scene, are lost in Nasa archives. The ones available are a film recording of a pro]jection screen on Nasa control center. In theiory if they find the tapes they would be able to a better image quality.

  • Please don´t screw with the original.

  • Science is not a set of facts. It doesn't prove or disprove gods. It is neutral. It is a process. It is the testing of ideas, to see if they "hold water". If they do, you form a theory which you then subject to further tests. If they don't, then you look for a different theory. Religion/faith is different. It is the blind acceptance of facts as presented to you by someone else. Faith is what children have, but when you become an adult you need to grow up a bit and make up your own mind.

  • @GoreTorn16 And he does! hee hee!

  • Walking on the moon must be awesome, I wanna do that some day.
