I love the Charlie Christian pickup and its tone, but I haven't seen one that sounds right yet, except the originals. I bought an original and dissected it and figured out what the actual design is and why they sound like that. I've been working on this for about 2 years off and on and it became real obvious you just can't wind some wire on a blade and expect to get tones that sound like the real deal. The real CC pickup had quite a few little surprises in it in the design, using those tricks put it more in the ballpark of where I'm trying to get. This prototype is a little too bright maybe, but the guitar itself is quite bright; I am going to darken the pickup some and get it closer but thought some might like to sneak a peek at what I'm doing. A dog ear P90 cover will hold a full size CC coil design and will fit on anyone's P90 guitar so its an ideal way to get these tones without trying to build a totally accurate CC pickup that will only fit in an archtop designed for it. Fun stuff!
