A Tribute to Gemini 12 & Apollo 11 Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, the Second Man to walk on the Moon.

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin was selected for NASA's Astronaut Group 3 or "The Fourteen" on October 1963.

His first spaceflight was as pilot on Gemini 12, with commander Jim Lovell, the last Gemini mission and the last chance to prove methods for EVA. He utilized revolutionary techniques during training for that mission, including neutrally-buoyant underwater training. Such techniques are still used today. Aldrin set a record for extra-vehicular activity and proved that astronauts could work outside the spacecraft.

Aldrin's next & final spaceflight was Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 11, the first attempt to land humans on the Moon.
It was also the second all-veteran crew in manned spaceflight history. Launched on July 16, 1969, it carried Commander Neil Alden Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin Eugene 'Buzz' Aldrin, Jr. On July 20, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to land on the Moon, while Collins orbited above.
