Thank you for your comment, and yes there is much pain and grief suffered by non custodial parents as well as grandparents, who have been denied access. Grandparents, however DO have rights in every state except Wa. especially when there is a dissolution, each state has it's own criteria within their statutes.

We all have our own coping strategies to life's disappointments, and "Never Get Attached" is one of them.

@grandwish But money often is a deciding factor. Young families are not always in a financial situation to defend themselves against grandparents who are financially stable; this is where you make your money. This is also used against young families to financially ruin them to so they are unable to afford an attorney to fight for their kids. I’m sure if someone came after your children you would just hand them over. How is financially ruining a young family “in the best interest of the child”?

We are forgetting one important aspect of all, the constitutional rights of the parents themselves. Let's take this scenario StateA on the west Coast's Judge writes an order for the Grandparents to fly to State B to take child out of stateB and Fly back to State A against the mother's wishes. This takes place 5 days once a month. Child ends up in therapy and has nightmares and night terrors due to the emotional impact that the grandparents put on that child. Child's well being where is that?

My son and I had a wonderful relationship and he is now married to a controling woman with a controlling mom. Her mom owns my grandkids and my son is letting it happen.If I don't act just like the other grandparents then I don't get to see my grandson's. I love them and want to see them so badly. He is brainwashed by his wife and I never get to see my grandbabies. My father just passed away at Christmas and they came into town and saw her parents and did not even stop to let me see the babies.

I could feel the pain and hurt in your comment. However,I must disagree with who suffers the most. It is certainly the children who suffer the most. We adults are vastly more capable of dealing with the immense pain. But PLEASE think about how important your attachment was to your grandchildren. How wonderful it was to be loved unconditionally by you!That is irreplaceable. What will happen to other grandchildren if the grandparents on this site heed your advice?Sincerely, Sheryl

Grandparents have no rights to see grandchildren.

"Do not get attached emotionally with your grandchildren."

A divorce or seperation makes it easy for the mother of the children to with hold visitation rights just to get revenge on the husband/father via the pain and grief of the fathers parents losing visitation rights.

Most grandparents are not responsable for the problems between the husband and wife yet suffer the most when these problems cause the divorce.
