Hello looks like you know a lot about electronics, don't you mind if I ask you if is a good idea to use an Real-time clock to make a chronometer that should be accurate to milliseconds? or even if it is possible to make it accurate to microseconds?
Thanks in advance

do you think that you could shoot me the schematics for your design?? I was attempting to build the velleman k4300 but the u2067b is obsolete. then i started seeing that the lm3916 can be a "replacement" for it which then led me here... So any help at all would be awesome!
(BTW i am 22 goin to college for audio production and freaked my teacher out by taking on this project as a final LOL)

The LM3916 has a vu-meter response, the LM3915
has a log response and the LM3914 has a linear response. Check datasheets to see the difference.

Try digikey, it will still cost a fair bit, about $3 per LM3916. I think the LM3916 has a linear response while the LM3915 has a log response.
