The Long Goodbye (1973) Part 7

Another of Robert Altman's (Short Cuts, The Player) genre films. In this he takes on the hard-boiled detective movie and puts his unique spin (overlapping dialogue and zoom lens included) on the genre made famous by the likes of Hawks and Wilder. Elliott Gould (Friends, Nashville) is the post-modern Philip Marlowe, a far cry from the iconic portrayal by Humphrey Bogart, but Gould, armed with charm and a parade of one-liners, strikes the right tone as he navigates the seedy underworld of '70s LA.

I saw this great film for the first time years ago.

Mr. 'Malboro' (Elliot Gould) smokes on and on the whole bloody film.

Very funny the Mexican dogs having sex (the female dog seems not very pleased! hehehe!

And the former California Governor strip
