No,it's not better than the original - which was Merrilee Rush in 1968,not Juice Newton. The biggest reason it is inferior is that Dani can't hit the high notes on the chorus,"Just touch my cheek before you leave me,baby,"which is the most emotional part of the song and must be there. Still,she is talented. A friend in Memphis,very involved in the music scene there,has known Dani for about six-seven years and told me about her. Good voice,good looks, but she should not do songs out of her range.
