An interview with Roger Richert, who discusses his thoughts about the restoration of the historic Pennsylvania Railroad Depot. Built in 1902 and designed by Daniel Burnham, the Richmond Depot has been idle for three decades.
@RailfanTube. I like that area, I was raised in CVille and have went across those tracks many times. I have met friends there at Mothers Pub. I think your passion is great but unless your turning it into condos to bring physicians to work at Riley I don't see it as a big win. From what I understand there is nothing left but Reid, Beldon, & minimum wage jobs in Richmond. I hope that you can bring in real jobs to sustain the community and other construction companies that are suffering.
@DiscountIndy While it may not be a pyramid, the restoration of this depot not only shows that our city has pride in its history, but has brought a ton of jobs to a construction company that almost ran out of business. Also railroads were around long before automobiles or planes and basically made industries in this country flourish. Many don't respect railroads for what they do which is transport the things we need and use in our every day lives more efficiently than other vehicles.
I like what Roger is doing for Richmond. We need more folks to have his enthusiasm. People need to take pride in their communities, after all, they are what we make them.
