A 60,000 psi Jet Edge abrasive water jet cutting 1.5" titanium at .76" per minute. The sparks are created by the abrasive hitting the hard titanium. Find out more about waterjets at http://www.jetedge.com!

  • Nozzle life will depend on the abrasive used, orifice type, length and material of the nozzle, and operator judgement based on their application. For example, nozzle life would be approx. 100hrs (at this point the nozzle id has gone from .045 to .060) assuming it’s a diamond orifice and 80 grit HPA abrasive and a 4” Roctec 100 nozzle, HPX will lower the same nozzle to about 75hrs.

  • An abrasive (typically garnet) is added for cutting harder materials like metal or stone. Soft materials like food, foam and carpets are cut with just water.

  • How long will the nozzle last with abrasives and at that pressure?

  • That is impressive, i do ultra high upto 30,000psi, but i didn't realise 60 thou would cut through titanium that thick! Makes most of the jetting i do look sooo weak! Thanks for uploading this.
