3 1/2 year old girl started speech therapy at 2 1/2 years old. At 3 years, 5 months, she had a clear MRI and saw a pediatric neurologist who diagnosed her with Childhood Apraxia of Speech. She has no other developmental delays. With continued therapy, she has made WORLDS of progress in the last 4 months. I believe attending preschool and being forced to communicate with other children has helped her in her goal to want to be understood!

  • Does she have Broca's aphasia or Wernicke's aphasia by any chance

  • @champagnebelle Hi - no she does not have either of those issues.

  • SHE IS SO CUTE.

  • @rcracchiolo Thanks so much!

  • Omg, your daughter reminds me so much of my son. Though he spoke less at that age, nevertheless, the "monkey" conversation brought back so many bittersweet memories! At that time, his pronunciation was so "cute" etc. until we realised in shock that at 4 yrs old no one outside of the immediate family understood a word he said!! 6 years later, with hearing aides, lots of catchup with his language delay, all he's got now is a slight lisp and still a few strange pronunciations here or there, great.

  • Respond to this video... THAT'S AMAZING! So glad to hear of the progress - it is a tough road but the therapy is the key!

  • May I ask how the preschoolers are responding towards your daughter? Is it more acceptance at that age?

  • Aw she's adorable :')

  • wtf It's like another language..

  • omg this sounds just like both my kids... more my daughter than my son. my son is almost 4 (this sunday) and my daughter will be five in dec. they both go thru speech but no one has said why their speech is so funny sounding. just that it is a slight delay. they are both very smart but not many people understand what they are saying. this especially upsets my daughter who often cries when she can't be understood. i hope i find out what is wrong with them soon maybe it is what your daughter has?

  • @veronicavanney Hi Veronica! I am going to pm you! Keep up speech therapy is all I can say!
