Rennes-le-Château revisited

Continuing our quest for the ancient secrets of Abbé Bérenger Saunière and his tiny little village of Rennes-le-Château, we headed to the South of France for the second time in October 2007.

What did Saunière discover in the church in Rennes-le-Château all those many years ago? Did he leave a clue as to the true location of his treasure? What is that treasure? And what became of it? Qustions that needed serious answers.

But other than that, there is more about this magical place of beauty and tranquillity. Awe-inspiring landscapes, picturesque remote villages, ancient Cathar castles perched on sharp rocky spurs, spectacular mountain vistas, breathtaking gorges, mysterious and sacred sites, the Aude region has everything we could want.

Alas, we did not find the Holy Grail. However we did find the delicious red wines of the Languedoc vineyards, which gave us somewhat consolation...

Thanks... you're right, there's an interesting book from Schellenberger & Andrews investigating that theory, based on the sacred geometry of the surrounding area. The Cardou is a magical place and there are indeed several extremely well hidden mining tunnels and shafts, but we found it nearly impossible to find something of importance due to the dense vegetation and size of the mountain.

Thank you for your beautiful tribute to these amazing places. I want to travel there and go to the places that are the most imbued with the presence of Mary Magdalene. It looks like you covered alot of the countryside. Any advice as to what in France is most important to experience from this perspective now that you have been there more than once? And would 2 weeks be long enough to travel to some of these places? I am grateful to you for your sharing your trip in such an experiential way.
