@Paez9669 exactly! best european golfer ever, probably..and nothing like most english sportsmen and women we've seen throughout our history - he KNEW he was a winner, actually had a backbone and could get the job done a large percentage of the time.

Sports people bring an escape to the rigours of life and provide young people with an inspiration to perhaps follow on in some way with a career in professional sports etc .
Faldo has nothing to be ashamed in accepting this award .
Its not as if people in the military dont receive these awards and to reduce everything in life to people risking their lives , as laudible as that is , is churlish in the extreme IMO

Absolutly NOT worth a Knighthood....what has he done for this country??? No sports or media people should get awards or homours...the ordinary soldiers risking, and losing, life and limb are the deserving ones...give it back Faldo!!
