Women groups have gone back to the drawing board in a bid to iron out the disagreement over the one-third gender requirement in the composition of all elective and appointive public bodies, and have come up with 2 new proposals that they say could satisfy the constitutional requirement. The women propose to have the additional 80 constituencies allocated to women exclusively through a political party list, or that political parties be obligated to scrutinize the list of nominated candidates vying for parliamentary seats to ensure they meet the two thirds threshold. Sheila Sendeyo reports.
