A Video about the Suffragettes. - English Homework - Information from other sites. Enjoy . =]

Olivia .

okay, the reason I chose the song breaking free by High School Musical [ the film ] was because my intended audience was a bunch of 12 year olds and I knew they would enjoy listening to it. PLUS they are singing about breaking free, and to me this is what the suffragettes were trying to achieve. get it ? well anyway thats the reasoning behind the song.

  • wow just think - if it wasnt for these women - us women wudnt be able to get where we are today.

    thank you suffragettes!

  • It is forgotten that many men did not have the vote either. Some facts:-

Reform Act 1832:- Resulted in 15% of males having the vote.

Representation of the People Act 1884:- Increased suffrage but still 40% of males still could not vote.

Representation of the People Act 1918:- Universal suffrage for males over 21 females over 30.

Representation of the People Act 1928 - Universal suffrage all over 21.

In photos the policemen arresting the suffragettes did not have the vote either.

  • i want my god damn sandwhich

  • This is so inaccurate its hillarious... it's Annie Kenney not Annie Kennedy.

What has the song got anything to do with the votes for women?

You could have chose Sister Suffragette from Mary poppins... Seriously? HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL?

  • yea normal things men can do thats all they wanted right?

so how bout we send the women to war and die

lets sendm to the mines to pick coal

lets send him to do the construction

ya know stuff men do every day that women dont do :)

  • wow .... high school musical's breaking free

  • Well it kind of killed it considering you used "breaking free" ><

  • Thanks suffragetes :) If it werent for you i would be making sandwiches for men all the time and hoovering and basically being a servent to "man" kind

  • And what is your point? Surely educating people about the true nature of history is a good thing? Others obviously think so judging by the ratings the post gets.

Before ranting on about the suffering about women the life of the average man is not that great either. Last time I check over 40 Million were forced into war and killed in the 20th century. Large numbers couldn't vote till 1918 in the UK, long hours in back breaking soul destroying breaking jobs, shorter lives etc etc etc

  • @richardsbrandonuca

god guy- you posted this on every WOMENS SUFFRAGE vid- these are about the women who fought for our rights- knock it off- i can go on on the tortures women were put through in history- head gears with spikes that covered their tongues- also used to humiliate in public on leashes, men could be unfaithful with their wives but if a woman was - also when married women's property became the mans- education was limited- i do classical figure- women didnt get that till late 1800's

  • that's cute x
