Hi, my name is Christian I'm playing classical guitar for about 6 years. I'm mostly self-taught. I will post a few more video of this easy classic X'mas ballad. The set-up gonna be exactly the same excepting the instrument. As I've got the possibility to use about a dozen of different classical guitars I tough that it will be interesting to compare the sound of these instruments.

It's recorded on a PC with 2 condenser microphones (STUDIO PROJECTS B1) plugged on a USB MobilePre. The image is far from good but the sound is OK.

This first version is not perfect but that's it, nothing is perfect. This one is played on a 1971 YAMAHA GRAND CONCERT GC-5 by EZAKI (the first generation of GC is from 1967-1971) with Savarez Corum strings (normal tension), solid pine top!!!? (like spruce), solid Brazillian rosewood back and side, ebony fretboard, 662mm scale.

The other versions gonna be recorded from now to december 24, including five YAMAHA GRAND CONCERT ( 1972 GC-6D from KATO, 1972 GC-20D also from KATO, 1980 GC-15 also from EZAKI, etc...), 2003 RAIMUNDO 140, 2004 RAIMUNDO 145, 1992 RAIMUNDO 180, 2004 YUKINOBU CHAI no10, 1977 HIRADE MASTER ARTE, etc... so stay tuned.

  • Nice work. That guitar has the same huge warm sound as my 1970 GC-10.
