I dubbed the audio from Crossroads box set - After Midnight in STEREO over This Eric Clapton 1987 video version, which came up a little short because they had edited the original music video. To keep the song unedited, I added a Clapton picture at the end.

  • My father hadn't found John Mayal's archives album with hoochie coochie man and Stormy Monday; but, I did later on while in my military time as I attempted to put on cd all the British bluesrock I grew up with(I also dived into the delta bluesmen; i went all the way down to Chaplin and Bessie Smith).

  • , and for some strange reason, his Beano album was lost amongst his stacks of other records. After searching through these other rows of records to see what else my father had, I found it; i couldn't believe it! Another John Mayal album! An Eric Clapton album! I thought I'd found some secret knowledge!

Putting that album on my fathers daimond tipped record player, the first explosive notes said it all; i knew I found the truth about Eric Clapton.

  • . . . for some strange reason, my fathers record of John Mayal's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton was burried on the other side his record collection away from his John Mayal side! I remember that day fondly!

I had gone through a Doors period, then a Beatles and then Led Zeppelin period; then, I finally got into John Mayal much more deeply, the Mick Taylor years Bare Wires and Laural Canyon blues . . . I had gone through so much music, . . . more

  • It's not really true that this was Eric's last great song(his rush album is brilliant as is his unplugged); but, it is probably my first Eric Clapton song. It came during my Mtv years when I was a youth.

Then, I found my father's John Mayal albums. Today, reliving this video on youtube(bless youtube?LoL!), I get to relive my musical awakenings!

Further remarkable, I actually didn't find my fathers Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton till much later; for some strange reason . . . more

  • This may be considered better than the original in a few ways, but it doesn't capture the camp-friendly tone the original one had. That version I always felt would be fun to listen to when I go on a trip to New Orleans on a... certain Tuesday morning. =)

  • This version of After Midnight is the best. I've always thought that the fast version was way to fast. This is how it should be played.

  • clapton one of the best!

  • Michelob music. Beer is good.

  • this reminds me of highschool, a remake but a good one... its his song anyway

  • Well I prefer it over the faster version. Kind of captures a smokier mood. I love this version.
