@drone713 No, various movie websites put her birth at 1942 or 1944. When she died, her son, Dodd, said that his mom was 63 meaning she would have been born in 1941. There is no approximate year, it is circa 1942-1944.

@tunapup1 Wrong, wrong, and more wrong. Sandra Dee was born in 1944 and faked her age through her early career. Look it up.

Gosh this is 50 years old-Mrs. Dee did not want her daughter to date smoking hot James Darren, but she had no problem with her marrying Bobby Darin? Really? I like Bobby, but that James-great voice, great looks. Whew!

@drone713 Let's do some math here. Sandra Dee was born on 4/23/1942. Gidget was shot during the winter of 1959; she would have been 16 at the time. Correcting my mistake, the movie was releasesd 4/10/1959, meaning that, fine Sandra was 16 when it was initially released but she turned 17 a mere 13 days later.

AS A LIL KID IN THE 1970;S.I SAW THIS AMN AND EVEN AS A LIL GIRL IS SAID OH MY.....SO I WENT OUT YRS LATER AND BOUGH THIS MOVIE AT SUNCOAST VEDIO..JUST TO LOOK AT THIS MAN.. DAM HE WAS FINE AS HELL..I WILL SAY THAT I'VE HAD A CRUSH ON HIM SINCE I WAS 9 YRS OLD
