Rare Amtrak #1137 at Worcester, MA

On the beautiful summer day of June 24, 2008 Amtrak #1137 from Boston South Station to New York Penn Station makes a rare appearance at Worcester, MA. The train was a replacement for the usual Regional trains Along the Connecticut shore because of Thames River bridge work in New London, CT. Also, track work by CSX crews is shown. Next, a Providence and Worcester Railroad train returns empty coal cars probably from the Public Service New Hampshire power plant in Bow, NH.

Wasn't Worcester part of the "inland" route between Boston and NYC about 15 or 20 yearrs ago? This particular train must have had to detour for some reason. Love those freight engines. Good video.

I wonder why the train did not stop in Worcester that day? I am sure there would have been some passengers at Worcester. I think these rerouted trains stopped in Springfield, MA, Hartford, CT and other stops in the inland route.
