Hello! We are Team Anonymous, a group of students in the Residential College of Arts And Humanities at Michigan State University.

Being a relatively new College, there are still a lot of people, even at MSU, that don't know who we are or what we do. So, we sat down with a few of our fellow students here in the RCAH to tell you a little bit about ourselves.

Yes, the video is supposed to be funny! Would you rather we bore you with hours of pomp and inflated egos? We didn' think so... but if you'd like more information please see our own publication, "The REAL Answers" below, where we take a bit of a more serious look at the RCAH from a student perspective or visit the RCAH website.

The REAL Answers:
-------------------------------------------------------
The RCAH is a fluid concept. That is, the RCAH changes in order to fit the needs of its user. Additionally, the RCAH embraces variety, which makes it very hard to generalize anything the RCAH does. Consequently, the real answers to our questions are hard to pin point. Our video aimed to explore a small piece of the RCAH through honest testimonies from RCAH students. This written piece of our project is more formal, but not necessarily less vague. We apologize in advance.
-----------------
What is the RCAH?
The RCAH (Residential College in the Arts and Humanities) is a small college within Michigan State University that focuses on the study of humanities through four areas or cornerstones: world history, art and culture, ethics, and engaged learning. Students are required to familiarize themselves with all four cornerstones of the humanities major, but then are encouraged to specialize in their own interest. Students in the RCAH all live within the Snyder-Phillips building, which conveniently hosts most of the RCAH events, classes, professors offices, and facilities. Students are able to easily access all of the resources of the college.
-----------------
What is the study of humanities?
The humanities major offered here is unique to the RCAH. Because the humanities major is a broad major that encompasses a large amount of material over a great many fields, RCAH students are given the opportunity to complete a specialization in a variety of areas in order to focus their work. Many RCAH students also choose to double major, adding another facet to their already thorough education. The study of humanities, in itself, examines the human condition, culture, and our obligation as world citizens.
What are professors and classes like in the RCAH?
The professors in the RCAH are as diverse as the students, with a variety of backgrounds and areas of expertise. They are committed to their jobs and interact directly with the students, instead of through a teachers assistant or any such aide. Professors quickly get to know all students on a first name basis and strive to go above and beyond to help them out. Class sizes in the RCAH dont exceed twenty-five students, which allows for many one on one opportunities between students and professors as well as many opportunities between students and other students. All classes are vary individualized to professors and students, and range from lots of movement and creative work to intense discussions. Classes are never solely lectures. Most of all, student are encouraged to argue with and challenge the ideas and concepts presented to them
-----------------
Why choose the RCAH?
There are many benefits in choosing the RCAH. If students are undecided as to what they would like to do in life, the RCAH is a perfect place to receive a versatile major that is valuable in a variety of fields. The RCAH is also great preparation for Gad School or other post-college opportunities. In the RCAH students are able to develop personal relationships with their professors and their peers. There are also many unique benefits to living in Snyder-Phillips, including The Gallery - Snyder-Phillips unparalleled cafeteria, the Lookout Art Gallery located on the second floor of the building, the state-of-the-art language and media center, the quiet study rooms located throughout the Hall, as well as the music practice rooms available to all students, and so much more. Mostly, the RCAH is individualized: you make your education.
