Cataloochee, skiing from the top to the bottom

This was filmed on Dec. 23, 2010. At the very top, the snow making machines had been running all day making visibility difficult and the new snow/ice would freeze your face quite a bit but hey...We can't ski on rocks so what you gonna do? I was skiing on a pair of 185 cm, circa 1982, K2 skis...I dream of upgrading to a modern ski, maybe that day will come. The folks up here are great and the skiing was fun. Not very crowded at all. At the very end of my video, you can catch a glimpse of the lift line which is virtually non existent. Probably, the longest wait was 5-10 minutes.

cataloochee is so easy, the black diamond at the top compares to greens at the new england and western ski resorts. but this video was taken just a few days before they got about 4 feet of snow! they were blowing snow like crazy to make sure they have a nice base for the snow that was coming. yes 4 feet of snow at cataloochee between 26th and 28th, then they got about 3 feet this last storm in early january. great year for cataloochee.
