  • @pervertt The comparison is interesting because in Germany the aristocracy and the military/bureaucracy (there was a large overlap between those groups) were *not* the power base of the Nazis. They merely allied with them after Hitler won his elections. Hitler was ideologically rooted in the rising collectivisms that also brought about the Communist ideology (although he himself fiercly opposed that one). I wonder what drove the changes in Japan.

  • @john42t Good point about the distinction between German and Japanese governments in WW2. But aristocracy or not, Japanese leaders who held key posts shared extreme right wing views. On the supremacy of the Japanese emperor, on the importance of the military, on plotting by western governments to isolate Japan, on Japan's divine right to colonise and subjugate neighbouring Asian countries. Sounds like the same stuff being peddled by the uyoku dantai.

  • @pervertt I don't think they were. Unlike Germany Japan was led by an old monarchy and a military aristocracy, weren't they? Germany was led by a gang of political activists that got in power through a popular vote.

  • These guys are fools. When I walk past these idiots on my way home from work it really depresses me. Most people on the street just ignore their shrieking, but it really puts a strain on your day after you worked for ten hours to hear some douche whine on about how all Japan's problems are down to some other country. When these guys are also connected to the Yakuza, who are heavily into the drug trade, the porn industry and the prostitution racket- Actually these guys are a cancer.

  • @JapanAsCool Erm that isn't true at all. Far right members are all Japanese. The police in this country would never tolerate protests by non-Japanese. Also most far-right groups are deeply connected to the Yakuza, which is how they manage to circumvent a lot of the laws connected to noise disturbance.
